Music Lesson: The Tune Breakdown
So that's practically the tune.
False End
There's a false end on there. So the last time around, same end.
Cool Techniques
What's quite a cool thing to do:
- Hold that switch
- Switch the preset
- Engage the Leslie at the same time just for a good end.
If you want, you can get yourself a nice, rich tone already prepared.
Hip Approach
So say you've got your end. It's quite a hip thing to do. That's the kind of thing McGriff did quite often. If you get any live recordings, it'll often save that big tone for the very last moment, and suddenly the Leslie is going fast when it's been stopped the whole time. It's quite cool.
Impact
So, holding things back, not as a gimmick, but rather the things that make the impact. You know, give them as late as you can.
Summary
So that's basically the tune:
- You got techniques
- You got the percussion
- Bass line going there and the main jazz setting
- Leslie: stop and off you go.
