Lesson transcript:
Using a Leslie Simulator in Your Setup
Okay, so down here you'll see that I'm actually using a pedal for my Leslie settings.
Why Use a Leslie Simulator?
The reason for that is:
- The modeling they did for the Leslie on here has its own built-in simulator, but it's not that great.
- It's one thing they didn't quite get right.
- The rest of it is pretty damn good.
The Neo Ventilator 2 Pedal
I'm using this pedal, the Neo Ventilator 2, and it simulates a Leslie speaker.
Features:
- Various settings
- Parameters to alter:
- Balance between the top rotor and the bottom rotor
- Distance of the mics
- Stop settings:
- Fast
- Slow
They've done quite a good job with getting the imbalance between the rotors, you know, with the base rotor being slower to speed up and slow down.
The Swell Pedal
Down here, you have the swell pedal as well, same as any other. This is a Yamaha one.
Functionality:
- The volume goes up, obviously.
- Not just the volume, the tone changes as well.
They've done a really good job of modeling what happens when you drive the valve amp in the Leslie. The tone breaks up a bit, giving you that nice, warm, crunchy sound.
So that's what's happening down here.
About the instructor
