Drum Kit Lesson Overview

Okay, so hopefully you're now feeling a bit more comfortable playing those two voices on the drum kit.

Hi-Hats and Snare Drums

We've had quite a lot of:

• Hi-hats
• Snare drums

These have been placed in different parts of the beat within the bar, and we've also dealt with some rests.

Counting Practice

So you're practicing your counting and getting confident coming in during the next bar.

Playing in Unison

Obviously, we haven't yet played them in unison, which you will be doing as we work towards playing the pieces.

• Playing in unison means hitting them at the same time.
• But we'll get there!

Right-Handed vs. Left-Handed

The main thing is, you're comfortable playing your hi-hats.

• If you're right-handed:

  • You've been playing the hi-hats probably with your right hand and the snare with your left hand.

• If you're left-handed:

  • You've been playing your hi-hats with your left hand and the snares with your right hand.

So, yeah, lots to look forward to in the next section!
