Ultimate Breathing Challenge: The Long Note Exercise

I've left the ultimate breathing challenge for this level. It's called the long note exercise, and it lasts for 12 whole bars long.

Key Points to Remember

  • No pressure: Don't feel under any obligation in the early stages to have to go all the way to the finishing line.
  • Build Up: Let yourself build into this exercise and learn how to manage it.

Instructions

  1. Breath Intake: Take in a nice, deep breath quite slowly.
  2. Sound Control: When you actually hold the "oo," it needs to be:
    • A small, clear sound.
    • One that lets hardly any air out.
  3. Check Your Progress: You can actually check while you're doing it by putting your fingers here (place your fingers at your throat).
  4. Hold Steady: Hold it as clear, long, and steady as you possibly can.

Demonstration

Let me demonstrate it for you:

  • Start to breathe.
  • Keep breathing.
  • Here we go:
    • 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. We're halfway.
    • 7, 8, 9, 10, 11. We're almost there.
    • 12. Well done!
