Voice and Ear Training Lesson

I'm a great believer in training the voice and the ear simultaneously. In order to do that, it's good to be introduced to and routinely practice all the various different types of musical patterns that there are in the music that you're going to sing.

Level One: Basic Patterns

This is level one, so we're going to be starting with the really basic patterns that you need to know.

Introducing the Major Triad

The first one I'm going to introduce you to is the major triad.

  • Why is it called a major triad?
    It's because it contains three notes like a triangle, tripod, etc. It has three notes in it, hence the word tri in triad.

In the academic world, Kim spent a decade in various leadership positions of the British Voice Association as Head of Communications, past President and Director. She has many years of institutional teaching experience as a Principal/Senior Lecturer at Leeds College of Music; London College of Music respectively and was the Head of Vocals at Vocaltech (now BIMM London).

Her educational work features in many masters; doctoral theses and in compendiums such as “Training Contemporary Commercial Singers” (Compton), “Teaching Singing in the 21st Century” (Springer) and “The Ultimate Guide To Singing” (TC-Helicon).
