Lesson transcript

Focus Exercise

This exercise is called the Focus Exercise, and it further refines the feeling of resonance in the singing voice.

Purpose

It uses the very useful letters:

  • M
  • N

I hope you can hear that there's a lot of buzzing in my face. If you were to feel my face or your own face, you'll notice a gentle vibration around this area.

Introduction of Vowels

In doing these sounds, we also reintroduce the vowels, but in a different order. This time, it starts with I instead of the more usual alphabetical order.

Reason

The reason for this change is that it creates a more progressional shape change.

Demonstration

Let me demonstrate it for you.

  • Start with a gentle slide at the end.
  • Then, we alternate it with the N version.
