Intro with Stops

The intro with the stops is all about those six and minor thirds we talked about.

Percussion Technique

• In this instance, we do it with the left hand as the right hand plays the line.
• That's how you're answering it; that's kind of up to speed.

Slowing Down

If you just slow it down, the stops that happen slightly later involve similar sort of concepts.

Blues Scale

It's all blues scale, but with that six thrown in as well. There's a slight difference at the end of that line.

Phrase Variation

I can't remember how he phrases it exactly, but I think that's what he does. He keeps it all very simple.

Riff and Reply

The second time around on the brakes, where there's the riff and the reply:

• Because of the reply, the stops there are slightly varied.
• It's something like... I think that that's pretty much what he plays on there.
