Drum Groove Lesson Recap

Well, I hope you've enjoyed piecing together your first drum groove through the metal section.

Key Takeaways

  • Playing in Unison:

    • It's been really good for us to work on playing everything in unison.
    • Focus on the coordination between:
      • Hi-hats and Bass Drums
      • Hi-hats and Snares
  • Backing Tracks Development:

    • Often, the guitar and the bass guitar will be playing da da da da da da da da.
    • This emphasizes playing eighth notes, which we can really work on to help with our timing.
    • These elements guide us along in the music.

Exploring Metal Music

If you go and listen to some metal music, you'll find that:

  • The drumming is incredible.
  • Metal drumming is a significant stamina and endurance test.
  • Notable aspects include:
    • Volume
    • Consistent power
    • Speed at which these players play

They're proper athletes!

While I don't do that kind of playing myself, I have lots of admiration for players who do.

So, enjoy checking out that music when you get the chance!
