Mum Mum Exercise with Shoulder Roll and Head Movement
Next, we're going to do the mum mum exercise with the shoulder roll and movement of the head.
Key Points
- Relaxation: Try to keep everything as relaxed as possible during this exercise.
- Upper Body: The key here is to find relaxation in your upper body.
- Awareness: Notice any points where your body might stiffen. It may become harder to keep the movement going. Revisit those spots in future sessions.
Let's Begin
Repeat after me:
Ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma mama ma ma ma ma ma ma.
- Make sure to put a little cry on it.
- Keep your head nice and loose.
- Looseness in the shoulders is essential.
Freedom in Movement
The key here is freedom.
- We don't worry about how it sounds, at least not just yet.
Conclusion
Good work! This completes this module.
- Make sure to do this exercise three to four times a day for the next four days.
- Come back on day five.

Adam Mishan is a vocal coach who taught himself to sing. His videos document the journey from not being able to hold a pitch to singing with real control, and that path now shapes how he teaches - over 200,000 people follow along on YouTube. In his courses you'll work on pitch, breath support, tone and range in small, repeatable steps, the same way he built his own voice.
