Exercise Number Four: The Hum
Exercise number four is going to be an interesting type of hum. This, again, is going to help get the tongue up and out of the mouth, which will assist with tone production.
Instructions:
-
Tongue Placement
- Bring your tongue forward in your mouth.
- Place it between your upper lip and your teeth.
- It should look like this: (demonstrate placement).
-
Humming
- Once your tongue is placed, hum through the five-tone scale.
- It's going to sound like this: (demonstrate humming).
-
Body Movement
- As you hum, move your head side to side.
- This adds a physical element to the exercise.
-
Neck Movement
- Incorporate some neck movement into the vocal exercise.
- It should look like this: (demonstrate neck movements).
Key Points:
- Keep everything as relaxed as possible.
- Allow for relaxation to come into the neck, throat, and tongue as you continue.
