Evowel Technique in Singing

Next, we're going to move on to your evowel.

Opening the Jaw

  • To create space in the mouth, you will need to:
    • Open your jaw a little more as you move through the bridge range.

Avoiding Strain

  • If the E vowel is done incorrectly, you may:
    • Try to keep it in E and hear an E sound.
    • Notice that it sounds too strained; the jaw is too tight.

Finding Proper Resonance

  • To make the sound resonate properly, we need to:
    • Find that proper resonance pattern for the evowel.

Exercise

  • We're going to practice with the phrase:

    "E etop."

  • You're really opening up towards an vowel E. However, because it's so high in pitch, it almost still sounds like E due to the way the pitch shapes the vowel.
