Today's Lesson: Breaking Down "Red"
Today, we're going to be breaking down a song that I've written called "Red," featuring the artist Emmy Green. We will explore various key elements of the song, including:
-
Identifying the main parts and hooks
- What role do they play in the overall composition?
-
Examining the arrangement
-
Discussing rejected versions of the song
- Why didn't they work?
- What parts did we choose to keep from those versions?
-
Taking an in-depth look at various sections of the song
- Examining the drum track
- Analyzing the bass track
- Exploring the synths, all effects, ambience, and vocals
-
Understanding the mastering process
- What I do to get a track sounding polished, ready for radio, or for presentation to managers, A&R reps, or artists.
By the end of this lesson, you will be ready to hear the song.
