Generating New Drum Patterns with Max for Live
Alright, so let's take this a step further with Max for Live and how we might generate new drum patterns.
Introducing Instant House
A really cool Max for Live device we have is Instant House, which basically randomizes drum patterns that we can use to make house beats.
Features of Instant House

- All sorts of controls
Editing Patterns
Now we've got the initial setting, which is the very first. So let's change those patterns.
This is where we're using a device to create those randomizations.
Logical Constraints
Now, this device already has a lot of logical constraints, right? It's already made for drums and set up to play:
- Kicks that make sense
- Hi-hats that make sense
Instead of just totally random notes, we can edit them and really get specific with the type of sound that we want.
Customizing Your Sound
We can also change out this drum rack. So, I just hit my hot swap, and we go with this kit Pitchy, and we already have like a brand new sound.
Conclusion
When it comes to generative music, this is one of my favorites. It's really easy to use.
