Fast Songwriting Course Introduction

Hi, this is Isaac Kotek and I'm going to be teaching this course on fast songwriting. We will discuss:

About Me

Let me start by talking about myself, which I love to do!

I'm Isaac Kotek, an Ableton certified trainer with over seven years of experience training musicians and schools across the United States and internationally.

My Musical Journey

• I travel extensively, performing under my project name Subaqueous.
• I have worked on numerous projects, including:
  • Ambient music
  • World fusion electronic music
  • A vocal group called Silk Drop
• I also mix and produce for other artists.

This is me performing at a festival in Washington and at the Awaken Festival, where I taught Ableton Live techniques related to my creative process. It was during these experiences that I noticed people were interested in how I create music quickly across my various projects. This recognition inspired me to create this course.

Learning Ableton Live

I began using Ableton Live about seven to eight years ago, starting with Live 5. There was no manual available in English, so I was learning in the dark. As I became more proficient, I started teaching others what I had learned, which greatly enhanced my skills as a teacher.

Course Scope

In this class, we will cover:

• Steps for music creation
• Creating live templates
• Organizing samples for quick deployment (a crucial yet often overlooked topic)
• Quickly creating sketches
• Building out ideas
• Developing compositions
• Arrangement techniques
• Advanced songwriting tips and tricks

What This Course Is Not

• This course does not cover the basics of Ableton Live.
• If you are not familiar with how to control Ableton Live, warping, or managing clips, this might not be the right course for you.

Recommendation: Please refer to my other courses on the basics of Ableton Live to build an understanding before tackling this course.

We will dive into different modules and classes throughout this course. I invite you to watch the entire course. Even if you feel knowledgeable, you may encounter surprising insights or miss important pieces if you skip sections.
