Music Lesson Assignment: Chord Sequences and Arpeggios

Your assignment for this lesson is to practice the following:

  • Major Seven Arpeggios and Scales
  • Minor Seven Arpeggios and Scales
  • Seventh Arpeggios and Scales

Finding Standard Chord Sequences

You need to find some standard chord sequences for jazz standards. You can obtain these from:

  • Band in a Box
  • Ireal Pro
  • The Real Book (a comprehensive compilation of jazz standards)

Practice Recommendations

  1. Select Well-Known Tunes:

    • Focus on tunes that are familiar and widely recognized.
  2. Work Through the Tunes:

    • As you practice, try to work out the arpeggios for each chord in the sequence.

Tips

  • Take your time to explore different keys.
  • Make sure to thoroughly understand the arpeggios as they relate to the chords.

Happy practicing!
