Music Lesson Transcript: Example 1
In Example 1, we see the notes F sharp and G.
- The G is going to be played on the third fret of the high E string.
- It's an octave from the low G we previously saw.
- Remember, that's fret free on the E.
As we mirror these notes, you'll hear, as I go up the neck, that the notes remain the same, just in different registers.
We also have the F sharp, which we discussed earlier. Knowing that F sharp is located on the second fret of the E string:
- We find the sharp by identifying F and raising it a semitone.
- Although we don't have the sharp sign next to the note F on our page, we recognize it as F sharp due to the key signature at the beginning of the music, which we discussed earlier.

Fingering Technique
This whole example is played on the high E string. We start with:
- G (third fret)
- F sharp (second fret)
- Open E
We will use a finger per fret:
- Ring finger (third finger) on the third fret (G)
- Middle finger (second finger) on the second fret (F sharp)
- Open E with no finger
Bar Overview
In Bar 1, we have the same example as in Bar 2.
In Bar 3, we are playing:
- G
- F sharp
- E
- G again
We finish off with a quarter note E at the end, followed by three beats of rest (a quarter note plus a half note, totaling three beats).
So that line, nice and slowly, sounds like this:

Auf Platte und im Radio hat Tommy Live-Sessions für BBC Three Counties Introducing, Vibe FM und Pulse 88 eingespielt, mit Tracks, die auf BBC Radio 1 und Radio 2 liefen. Aufgenommen hat er in Studios wie South Lanes Brighton, Hempstead Road und Titan Studios mit Produzenten wie Steph Carter (Gallows, Lyoness) und TMS / Froe Barnes (Lewis Capaldi, Dua Lipa).
