Basic Chords and Rhythm Patterns
The next thing I want to talk about is some basic chords.
G Chord
- There's our G chord.
- We're going to start with a G chord.
C Chord
- A C chord looks like this:
- This is an open chord.
- We call it an open chord because it has an open string in it.
- The thing that makes it easier to learn.
So, we'll learn open chords first. That's a C chord.
D7 Chord
- Here's a D7 chord:
- Just got two fingers and then G.
Chord Practice
So those three chords will be enough for us to start learning. We can try playing our rhythm patterns with those chords.
Next Rhythm Pattern
-
Our next rhythm pattern is a nice little progression:
- Play just: G, C, G, D, G, C, G, D, G.
-
I use mostly two measures on each of the chords.
So that's basic. We've got a basic scale now and basic chords.
Next Steps
The next thing we'll do is learn a simple song.
