Classic Banjo Arrangements
I tried to include some of the really classic arrangements, banjo arrangements, in this little DVD we're doing.
The Importance of Learning the Classics
I think it's important to learn the real, traditional way that things were played originally. This gives you a solid background in how to play the banjo.
- The way the instrument is played developed through the approaches of all the great players.
- It's essential to understand how they did it.
Influential Players
People like Earl Scruggs, who really started a lot of the techniques that I enjoy playing, as well as JD Crow, Alan Shelton, and many others, have laid the groundwork for modern banjo playing.
Recommendations
- Go and look for really good players to watch and listen to.
- Find their old records and immerse yourself in their styles.
- Think about learning to make your banjo sound like those guys.
Conclusion
I hope you had a good time with this DVD and that you learn a lot from it.
Even if you've been playing the banjo for a while, there's always something new to gain, especially regarding the details.
- Really think about your timing.
- Focus on your rhythm.
To me, that's what makes the banjo resonate and truly enjoyable to play!
