Welcome to the Country and Bluegrass Fiddle Course
Hello and welcome to my Country and Bluegrass Fiddle course!
This course is based on the book published by Schott titled Exploring Country and Bluegrass Fiddle. It aims to cover the entire history of country music, from the early old-time fiddle traditions to contemporary country styles.
Course Overview
- Objective: Equip you with the techniques needed to play in any form of country or bluegrass band.
- Lessons: There are 31 lessons that follow the structure of the book.
- Recommended Resource: It would be very useful to have the book as well, as it contains a lot more background detail that we won't have time to cover in these lessons.
Skill Levels
- Difficulty: Some of this material is quite easy, while other parts can be extremely challenging.
- Time Commitment: Expect to spend a significant amount of time on this. Clear your diary!
Closing Thoughts
Towards the end of 30 years of practice, you'll really get there! Just kidding. I'm sure you'll master most of this content fairly quickly.

About the instructor
Chris Haigh ist seit 25 Jahren professioneller Fiddle-Spieler mit Erfahrung in vielen verschiedenen Genres. Er hat auf über 75 Alben gespielt und dabei mit Künstlern wie Alison Moyet, Bob Geldof, All About Eve, Michael Ball, David Soul, Oumou Sangare, The Quireboys, Riverdance, Morcheeba, James Galway und Steps zusammengearbeitet. Er hat Swing-Jazz mit The Kimbara Brothers, Diz Disley, Le Jazz, The Hot Club of London und den Quecumbar Allstars gespielt und leitet die siebenköpfige sowjetische Swing-Band The Kremlinaires. Chris gibt Unterricht und Workshops zur Jazzgeigen-Technik und hat Jazzgeige an den Universitäten Middlesex, Brunel und Newcastle sowie am Truro College unterrichtet. Zu seinen Veröffentlichungen zählen neun Fiddle-Bücher, darunter The Fiddle Handbook.
