My Journey into Music
As a teenager, I was raised by my grandparents, who listened to classical music. I wasn't initially immersed in dance music.
The First Club Experience
When I was 16 and a half, I visited the first club of my life:
- DJ: David Guetta and Cyril Gordigiani
- Music: Hip hop and house, as that was the trend at the time
- Location: Les Etoiles in Paris
The experience was overwhelming:
- Atmosphere: Full on, smoke machine, stroboscope lights
- Tracks that stood out:
- Marshall Jefferson - Move Your Body
- Jungle Brothers - I'll House You
My brain exploded. The only thing I knew was that I wanted to be in that black box with the smoke machine, strobe lights, and music.
Learning and Growth
Eventually, I passed my baccalaureate, which finished my schooling, and I started to learn more about the house club culture. This movement was literally exploding in Paris and Europe. However, there weren't many stores or places to source information.
Early Connections
I met fellow music fans, and I often attended a gaiety dance party at The Palace in Paris:
- DJ: Laurent Garnier, who frequently played at this party
- Experience: I would stay all night, glued to the window, watching him DJ.
One day, Laurent stepped out and asked me,
"Do you have a problem? What's going on? Everybody's dancing, and you're just standing here watching me."
I told him that I was in love with the music and wanted to learn more. He was really cool and friendly, and despite my shyness, he took me into the booth to talk.
Building Connections in the Industry
Over time, I got to know other DJs who became friends, such as Romain Bienaut, who started his label in 1995. I released my first records with him and Julien Jabe. My first record was with St. Germain as Deep Contest on Fcom.
Laurent became my mentor. I looked up to him and learned a lot. Throughout the years, I began to define my style:
- Skill Development: Initially, I was not technically skilled, but I trained myself by watching other DJs.
- Discovering New Styles: I would explore different ways of DJing.
Influences and Inspirations
Around 2015, I discovered other influential DJs:
- Ben Clock: His innovative techno sound inspired me.
I followed what blew my mind in the record store.
My Musical Philosophy
My rule is simple:
- Follow the Music:
- If I hear something that inspires me, I want to learn all about it.
- Example: If I hear Clockwork Records and it blows my mind, that's where I want to go.
I trust my musical instinct. If I feel inspired by a sound or movement, two things happen in my brain:
- I want to learn about it
- I want to share it
Conclusion
While my career may sound disorganized, it was rooted in passion and complete dedication to music. I remained honest with my feelings and interests, transitioning through styles and adjusting my techniques as needed. I also learned about the production aspects when making music.

Más allá de su propio sello, ha publicado en Rekids, Kaoz Theory y Tresor, y como remezclador ha reelaborado a artistas como Carl Craig, St Germain, DJ Honesty, Scan 7, Borderland (Juan Atkins) y Point G, aportando siempre sus atmósferas singularmente cálidas a todo lo que saca. También hace música bajo diversos otros alias: Rebeval, con material de sonido más crudo en L.I.E.S.; Sergie Rezza, un proyecto colaborativo y sello del mismo nombre junto a Roman Poncet que explora un house y techno más experimental, teñido de ambient, tanto en formato EP como LP; Fang, para house contemporáneo; y Adventice, para un techno enérgico y de raíces clásicas, con lanzamientos en Tresor y directos en lugares como Berlin Atonal. Su faceta más ecléctica aflora en sus programas de radio Open Library en Worldwide FM: ventanas de dos horas de jazz, soul, dub, funk y ambient que constituyen bandas sonoras muy especiales e inmersivas.
