Der Repeater
Lesson time: (2min 36sec)
Dov Waterman zeigt, wie der MIDI-Notenrepeater funktioniert – wie ein Delay, aber es wiederholt die eigentlichen Noten statt des Klangs – und wie du damit neue Ideen anstößt.

Lesson transcript:
Exploring the Note Repeater
Another great little generator of ideas is the note repeater.
What is a Note Repeater?
Basically, it's almost like a delay.
-
Opening the Note Repeater:
- If I just close down these modulators for a second and open my note repeater, let's find another sound which is a bit more bell-like, perhaps.
-
How It Works:
- Once this effect is on, it's almost like a delay.
- It is basically a MIDI repeater.
- You can change various aspects of it, such as:
- How many repeats you want
- The delay is synced
Difference from Traditional Effects
Unlike a processed delay or echo, these really are repeated notes.
- They are repeated MIDI notes, which serves as an alternative to using a processing plugin, like an effect such as a delay or an echo.
- The key difference is that you're not affecting the overall sound; you're just affecting the actual notes themselves.
Practical Application
If you stop it, I mean, we're hearing a lot of notes because there are lots of repeats on here.
- I just had three repeats.
So, unlike an effect, unless you had a very complex delay effect, of which there are many complex delay effects, those affect the overall sound.
- Here, you're just affecting the MIDI note.
In summary, it's another alternative to using a delay.
