Course Completion Message

Hey, I'm Isaac Kotick, AKA Subaqueous. Thanks for making it through this course!

You really stuck through it. Good job for watching all the videos, doing the examples, and committing to your goal of learning Ableton Live. That's huge! Showing that dedication is a really big deal.

Commitment to Success

I'd say 90% of being successful as a musician is simply showing up. So, if you show up like you did here and continue to push forward in your music, you're going to make it. You're going to do well, great job on that!

Course Review

Here's a quick review of what we've covered:

  • Basics of Ableton Live
    • Getting down your timing
    • Understanding different parts of Ableton, including:
      • The Browser
      • Arrangement View
      • Session View
      • Devices
      • Tracks
      • Clips

When you first open up Ableton, it can seem like a gray box and may appear a little confusing. However, now that you know the basic navigation and the various parts, it's not so scary anymore.

Next Steps

Going forward, I suggest you:

  • Sit down at least once a week (if not more) to practice.
  • Review what you've learned and come up with fun activities, such as:
    • Throwing in samples and playing them on a launchpad.
    • Experimenting with DJing different tracks and using various warp modes.

This will help you clock in a lot of hours to get the fundamentals of Ableton down.

If you want to start looking into:

  • Recording new parts
  • Adding new MIDI
  • Editing MIDI

Then check out my other courses. They'll cover recording, creating parts, building out your tracks, arrangement, and composition, as well as some more advanced techniques around effects in Ableton Live.

Practice Makes Perfect

Now that you've finished this course, I highly suggest that you practice, practice, practice, just like you would practice any instrument. It's vital for developing your skills as a producer.

  • Throw in loops, put them in the right warp modes.
  • Play around with timing, try slowing things down, speeding them up.
  • DJ between different tracks, using the examples and techniques I've shown you throughout the course.

Doing this will really help you develop your skills and clock in the hours you need to grow as a musician.

Conclusion

Great job for sticking to this course! You've learned all the different parts around Ableton, and that's totally awesome. You're now good to go with the basics and starting your path as a producer and musician using Ableton Live.

About the instructor

Isaac Cotec
Isaac Cotec
