Important Information

Before you get started, I want to make sure you get the most out of this course. Here are a few key points to consider:

• Rock School Book:
  • There's a lot of information you can gain from this course without owning a Rock School book.
  • It's not essential. However, I would recommend getting hold of a book if you're looking to dive deep into the performance pieces.
  • You'll have access to all the transcriptions.
  • If you're interested in booking yourself in for a graded exam, having your own book will be absolutely essential.

Course Structure

The course is divided into a few sections:

1. Performance of Each Piece:

   • Each piece will be performed for you.

2. Analysis of the Piece:

   • This covers:
     • Technique
     • Structure
     • Ways we can develop and improvise in designated sections

3. Technical Exercises:

   • A run-through of all the technical exercises at your grade.

4. Improvisation and Creativity:

   • An approach to improvisation that includes:
     • Melodic and rhythmic comping
     • Improvisation methods that are useful for both the Rock School syllabus and in creating solos within the pieces.
