Firstly, go away and listen to some recordings by Stefan Grappelli of well-known tunes such as "Diner" or "Autumn Leaves" and see if you can recognize as many of the techniques that we've described as you can.
Key Points to Consider:

The way that he plays the melody itself:
- You'll find that he very quickly strays away from the melody.
- The first time he plays through, there will be at least some semblance of the melody which should be recognizable.

After the initial playthrough:
- He'll go into an actual solo.
