Assignment for Chapter Practice
Your assignment for this chapter is to practice the different step patterns that we've looked at.
Steps to Follow
-
Practice in Given Key:
Start by practicing in the key that I provided to you. -
Explore Other Keys:
Then, try playing in the following keys:- D
- E flat
- D flat
-
Play Freely:
Once you've done that, aim to play a solo similar to the one I just demonstrated. Use the pentatonic scale while changing keys as the tune of "Glass Slippers" progresses. -
Goal:
Eventually, your aim is to be able to play pentatonic scales freely in any key that you encounter.
Tips for Practice
-
Special Finger Pattern:
Because we've shown you this special finger pattern, practicing it in all the different keys is less challenging than it typically is when trying to play in first position. -
Explore Further:
We've looked at many different approaches to the pentatonic scale. There are many more variations you can explore.
Dig into what I've given you and see what else you can come up with!
