Chord Voicings: Ninth Chords
So let's take a look at the chord voicings.
A Major 9 Chord
We're looking at different types of ninth chords. The first one we're going to do is the A major 9 chord as shown here.
- Shape: 1, 2, 3, 4.
- Really, really nice chord that. Love that.
C Major 9 Chord
Now, let's take a look at the C major 9. We get something like this:
- Root note on the A string: Really nice sounding chord there.
A Minor 9 Chord
Next is the minor nine. The shape they've given us is the following.
- We are in the key of C and we have this going on.
- If we wanted to put that with the root note on the E string, we simply get this shape here:
A Minor Nine
- Shape: Barring across the fifth fret.
D Dominant 9 Chord
Lastly, let's take a look at the dominant ninth chord. The one they've given us is the D dominant 9.
- Really cool chord, this:
- Fifth fret on the A string there.
- For a dominant nine root note on the E string, we'll get this shape here.
