Broken Chords Lesson
Next, we'll have a look at broken chords.
The chords that we were playing previously can be referred to as block chords because they're played all at the same time.
Broken chords are played with each individual note on its own.
Example
-
If I take an A minor chord as a block chord, it would sound like this:
- [Insert sound of block chord]
-
As a broken chord, it would sound like this:
- [Insert sound of broken chord]
Practice Together
In the next piece that we'll try together, we're going to be playing a combination of these two.
- One hand will be playing a block chord while the other hand plays a broken chord.
Let's give it a try!
Time Signature
Our time signature is 3/4.
So I'll count to three and then we'll begin, starting after three:
- Count: 1, 2, 3.
- Begin: 1, 2, 3.
- Repeat: One, two, three.
- Continue: One, two, three.
- Final Count: 1, two, three.
