Music Lesson: Buzzing and Breathing Techniques

Introduction

Remember buzzing on the mouthpiece from stripe one?

Buzzing Exercises

  • Let's buzz some two beat notes.
  • How about some one beat notes?
  • How about trying a four beat note?
You'll need a big breath for this.

Breathing Technique

Notice that I'm breathing in on the last beat before the note I play:
1, 2, 3.
1, 2, 3.

Transition to Trombone

Now, let's try the same thing on the trombone.

Additional Practice

Now, some one beat notes.
