Lesson transcript:

Transition to Energetic Section

Now we move on to a section that really kicks up a gear. I think there's something in the recording that's a little ambiguous, perhaps a note that I can't quite identify. It sounds something like this, but it could just be a small mistake.

Increased Energy

  • 2, 1, 2, 3, 4
So, we've got this energetic part. Again, it's all an embellishment of a C major triad, just with these additional elements.

  • Your Task
Get those notes nice and solid!

Unique Voicing

This is a very Pete Johnson thing. I haven't heard anyone else use this particular voicing. I love it! It's nice and open, constructed with fourths rather than the typical major triad structure you usually hear.

Experimentation Encouraged

Feel free to explore and experiment with this sound, using variations like those mentioned earlier.

Wrapping It Up

In this case, Pete Johnson opts for another one of those single note lines at the end to nicely round it off.

So, yeah, give it a go!
