The working bassist (as opposed to the casual or hobbyist) confronts a variety of challenges in his or her day-to-day work life. One of them is to be able to quickly learn music from the printed page. In studio situations, or last-minute gigs, this may be a matter of a minute or less! Needless to say, there are a few tricks I use to ready quickly and there are some valuable exercises to help gain confidence.
