Music Lesson: Percussion Techniques

Introduction: "The last one. Live the life of love, love life I live."

Percussion Technique:

Let's try the percussion on again.

Observations:

  • "What have I done there?"
  • For this one, I think I'm going to:
    • Take the lower manual sound down a little bit
    • Maybe take some of the four off

Sound Assessment:

To me, that just sounds a bit thin up there.

  • Down there, it would be too low.

You might want to see there.

  • "I went for that."
  • As I would play it down there, it just sounds too thin.

Addressing Anomalies:

Sometimes you get those kinds of anomalies.

  • You think it's just lacking kind of guts a bit.

But you can get pretty close to on this, so I'll stay further down.

  • That can be quite handy.

It's quite close to your left hand, so you can nip up there and still be playing a chord.

  • "So that works quite well."

Using Drawbars:

So those three, I think you can get very close to.

  • If you had a preamp, you could always put those in the Leslie as well.

That gets you a lot closer because you've got that meaty valve amp and also the actual physical movement, which is the whole thing, really.

Conclusion:

But, yeah, those first four drawbars, those kinds of tones, you can get very close.
