Top Tips for Effective Practice
Here are my top tips for effective practice:

Practice Often
- Do it for small amounts of time with lots of breaks.

Start with Rhythm
- Begin by snapping the rhythm.

Identify Pitches
- After snapping the rhythm, identify the pitches.

Add the Spices
- Once you've got both components together, you can add the spices:
- Dynamics: How soft or loud to play.
- Articulation: How you approach the notes.

Slow Down and Count
- Go really, really slowly and count the music.

Break It Down
- Be sure to break the music into small, manageable chunks.
- These can be as short as a couple of notes or a bar.

If You Get Stuck
- The best thing to do is to slow down and break it down into even smaller pieces.
- Notice where the problem area is.
- Does it have to do with:
- The rhythm?
- The pitches?
- The tempo?

Isolate and Master
- Once you figure out the issue, isolate that element and master it before coming back in.
The Mental Game
- Often, the mental game is the hardest part.
- If you find yourself frustrated, take a break and do something else.
- Maybe even move on to a different song.
