Your 30-Day Singing Regimen

Introduction

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh! I'll be your guide. I'm pretty sure that I own every single at-home singing course available on the market today. I have bought and gone through every single course, and I found that what they were missing was a very clear approach on how to work on your voice on a daily basis.

There was no clear regimen to work with. That's what I believe makes this course different from any of the other courses out there.

The Nature of Your Voice

So, what is your singing regimen going to look like over the next 30 days?

One hiccup and challenge that I've found in these courses, and that a lot of my students experience with singing training, is that we often push our voices like we're at the gym.

Understanding Vocal Cords

When you look at your voice as if you're working out at the gym, you don't take into account the fragile nature of the vocal cords.

Let me give you a little bit of insight:

  • Your vocal cords are housed in your larynx.
  • They are about the size of your thumbnail.
  • They are made up of the same type of material as the inside of your lip.

If you feel that skin, you'll notice it is extremely delicate, your vocal cords are too.

The Importance of Gentle Care

When your vocal cords are vibrating hundreds of thousands of times a day, we want to ensure that we're not pushing them past their natural limits. That is the main reason why I am setting out to do this course: to provide you with a regimen that fits your voice without pushing it too far.

Efficient Practice

I have found through both my work with students and my personal experience that shorter exercises multiple times a day are much more efficient than long practices once a day.

Optimal Practice Duration

Here's why:

  • When you do 15 minutes of practice three to four times a day versus one hour once a day, you allow your voice to have breaks in between each session.
  • This gives your vocal cords time to recuperate while also setting in muscle memory.

The muscles surrounding your vocal cords get to settle into the proper muscle memory each time you perform the exercises.

Rule Number One

Rule number one of this course: Aim for 15 minutes of practice three to four times a day.

  • Try to give yourself at least an hour between each practice session.

When I'm talking about the exercises described in this course, I'm not including your time for singing. This should also be regimented to prevent your vocal cords from tiring out.

Singing Recommendations

  • Try to limit your singing of actual songs to no more than 20 minutes two to three times a day.
  • However, I would highly recommend doing at least 10 minutes of singing two times a day.

At the end of the day, if you're doing these exercises but you're not actively singing, you won't see the results.
