Introduction to Jazz Guitar with Rob Luft
Hi there! My name's Rob Luft. I'm a guitar player from London specializing in jazz music and its related genres such as:
- World music
- Highlife from Africa
- Samba from Brazil
- Eastern European folk
I am dedicated to exploring different styles from across the globe.
My Background
As the jazz tutor for this course, I will introduce you to various jazz pieces, including:
- Scar
- Samba
- Bossa Nova
Professional Experience
I've been working professionally as a jazz musician on the London scene for nearly 10 years, playing with renowned artists like:
- Django Bates
- Gregory Porter
- Kerys Matthews
I grew up playing in the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Great Britain. After that, I studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Baker Street, where I graduated with several awards.
In 2016, I won second prize in the Montreux Jazz Festival's Jazz Guitar Competition. Since then, I have had the pleasure of performing across six continents, touring regions like:
- South America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile)
- Europe
I've presented my original music to fantastic, sellout audiences all over the continent. Currently, I am signed to Edition Records, Britain's flagship independent jazz label, where I have one album under my name and I'm in the process of creating my second.
