About this course

Mike Lovatt is one of the UK's most in-demand trumpeters and Chair of Trumpet at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Here he teaches you to play authentically in the swing style, building your feel through three pieces from the book Easy Jazzy 'Tudes that get gradually harder as you progress.

Along the way Mike covers swing groove and articulation, breathing and air flow, inflexions such as bends, vibrato, slides and falls, how to use a plunger mute, and how to start and end a tune with intonation and musicality intact. The course includes the sheet music for all three tunes, demonstrations you can slow down and loop, and backing tracks so you can play along with a real swing band.
