Welcome to Piano Lessons with Andrew James Johnson
Hey there, everybody!
How are you today? Great to see you!
Introduction
My name is Andrew James Johnson. I'm a composer and pianist from the UK. We're sitting in a great studio here in London, in the heart of the city, next to a beautiful Steinway piano. I'll be recording some great tracks for you, helping you to understand and play your pieces better.
A Bit About Me
- I've been a professional pianist for about 25 years.
- I've played all over the world:
- With orchestras
- With bands
- As a music director
- I've worked for Disney and some of the big cruise ships and entertainment companies around the globe.
- Currently, I'm focusing on composing and working on my own album. I've released a few albums over the years and am enjoying my life as a musician.
The Joy of Learning Piano
It's really great that you have chosen to learn the piano! That's absolutely fantastic news. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced Grade 8 student tackling the hardcore stuff, you are in the right place.
My Musical Experience
I've played a wide variety of music, including:
- Concertos
- Sonatas
- Composers such as:
- Beethoven
- Bach
- Chopin
- Rachmaninoff
- Popular music like:
- Bruce Hornsby - The Way It Is
- David Bowie - Life on Mars
- Coldplay
- Elton John
I look forward to diving deep into the music with you, exploring details that you might not have encountered in your lessons. Whether you're learning purely from a visual point of view or have had lessons, I'm here to help you truly understand the finer points of making music.
What You Will Learn
This course will cover:
- Not just technical skills like scales and arpeggios
- But also the musical side:
- How to express yourself
- Bringing a sense of professionalism into your playing
Remember, music is so much more than just the black dots on the page. As you learn and improve, I hope to help you bring your music to life!
The Difference Between Pro and Amateur
The real difference between a professional player and an amateur is the ability to communicate the message of the music, whether to an audience or to yourself. That's what we're here to do!
Looking Forward
I can't wait to see you inside as we get stuck into some courses and pieces together. It's going to be a lot of fun.
Really looking forward to it. See you there!
Cheers!
