Welcome to Your Piano Journey!

Hey there, everybody! How are you today? Great to see you.

Introduction

My name is Andrew James Johnson. I'm a composer and pianist from the UK. We're sitting in a great studio here in London, right in the heart of the city. I've got a beautiful Steinway piano, and I'm going to be recording some fantastic tracks to help you understand and play your pieces better.

About Me

  • Professional Experience: I have been a professional pianist for about 25 years.
  • Performances: I've played all over the world, with orchestras, bands, and as a music director.
  • Notable Work: My experience includes working for Disney, various big cruise ships, and some of the largest entertainment companies globally.
  • Current Focus: I'm currently focused on composing and working on my own album. I've released a few albums over the years and I'm enjoying my life as a musician.

Your Piano Learning

It's really great that you have chosen to learn the piano. That's fantastic news!

  • Audience: Whether you're a beginner or an advanced grade 8 student tackling some hardcore pieces, you are in the right place.
  • Repertoire: I have played everything from concertos and sonatas by Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff, to pieces by Bruce Hornsby, David Bowie, Coldplay, and Elton John. You name it, we've got the lot!

What to Expect

I'm excited to dive deep into the music. During our lessons, we may cover:

  • Details You Might Miss: We will explore details you may not have encountered in your usual lessons.
  • Learning Styles: If you are learning visually, that's even better! You will be able to take away lessons that will benefit you greatly.

As your instructor, I aim to help you understand the finer points of making music.

Areas of Focus

  • Technical Skills: We'll cover scales, arpeggios, and other fundamentals.
  • Musical Expression: Beyond technique, we will focus on how to express yourself and bring a sense of professionalism to your playing.

The Essence of Music

Music is so much more than just the black dots on the page. As you learn and improve, you will realize what makes music truly come alive.

  • Pro vs. Amateur: The real difference between a pro player and an amateur is the ability to communicate the message of the music, to connect with people, whether they're listening or even just enjoying it for themselves.

Conclusion

I'm here to guide you, and I can't wait to get stuck into the courses and pieces we have lined up. It's going to be a lot of fun!

Looking forward to seeing you there. Cheers!
