Nord Electro 61 Music Lesson

Okay, so we've got the Nord out here. Let's see how close we can get to the real thing. This is just a single manual Nord Electro 61, also known as Electro 61 5D. It's quite a long title!

Overview of the Setup

  • Physical Drawbars:

    • For the top manual, we've split there in the middle:
      • We have three drawbars.
      • Very similar to what we had on the C3, with a little bit of number one, top harmonic on there.
  • Lower Manual:

    • We've got pretty much the same as on the C3.
    • If you see there, that little light means we've got mainly the number eight.
    • I pulled that out now by accident.
    • Then we've got the number eight there and a tiny bit of number one as well.

Effects

  • Same as we had before:

    • C3 vibrato
    • Leslie simulation is on as well.
  • This setup is going into a Fender valve amp, specifically, a Fender Blues Deluxe, I believe.

Adjusting the Mix

Let's see how close we can get.

  • See that? I think the number eight is probably a bit loud in the mix.
  • I'm going to turn that down a tiny bit, maybe to about six.

I'd say that's pretty close. You can get very close with these things!

It doesn't quite have the same depth, but for this kind of part and that bit of percussion, it works quite well.

Technique Demonstration

I'll show you how I'm coming down there to meet that left hand in the percussion thing:

  • That's just the right hand coming down with the nails.

Rhythm Pattern:

  • Left, left, right, left.

It's almost like on a guitar, a little kind of chigger chagrin!

Overall, I think we got pretty close there. It can differ depending on what you're trying to achieve, but that's a very good part for this sort of thing.

And remember, you can do it with the clone wheels too!
