Lesson transcript:
Welcome to Wokschool!
Hey, how's it going? I'm James, and you've made a great choice.
Course Overview
This online web content is based on the Rock School syllabus and books, and there's loads of extra information written in all the books, particularly regarding:
- Scales
- Arpeggios
- Sheet Music
If you're looking to do the exams, then the book is required, so I'd recommend buying them if you are.
Course Sections
This course is divided into a few sections:
- Performance of the Pieces
- Walkthrough and Analysis
- Each piece by every musician
- Technical Exercises
- Includes scales, arpeggios, chord voicings, etc.
- Sight Reading
- A short excerpt about the best ways of approaching and improving it
- Improvisation and Creativity
- Extra content related to analysis and approach to improvisation
Even though improvisation isn't strictly within Rock School, we're going to teach you how to approach playing without reading music and using your ears.
Online Resources
Online, there's a huge amount of extra content:
- Downloads
- Hundreds of additional videos
It's going to take you a while to get through it all, so I really hope you have a good time enjoying it!
Interactive Player
There's also an interactive player, which means you can:
- Slow down or speed up different passages
- Break down and play along with specific parts or sections
If there's a little bit you're struggling with, you can slow it way down to really understand how it sounds.
Additional Materials
We also have tons of backing tracks and other downloadable content that you can check out. So check it out!
