The next step from that is we're going to stick in a blue note.

The Scale with a Flattened 5

• Play the scale with a flattened 5 in it.
• All you're doing is taking that pentatonic scale and adding in a flat five.

Let's quickly go around a 12-bar sequence, showing you how to throw that blue note in there.

Again, that includes a blue note.

Introducing the B.B. King Note

Now, I want to throw one more note into that scale, which is a real favorite, it's called the B.B. King note, which is the major sixth.

• This note makes the scale sound a lot more interesting.

• F sharp is what we're adding to the scale.
