We'll be giving you:
- Top practice tips

- Guidance through your Rock School grade
Jazz and Hip Hop with Harry Pope
Hey, I'm Harry Pope. I'm going to be taking you through the jazz and hip hop pathways on Rock School Grades debut to eight. I'm really excited about it!
I've been chosen to do the jazz and hip hop pathways because, as a pro drummer living in London, I play both genres at a really high professional level.
I've toured the world playing jazz and hip hop, and it sounds really cool. Check out my new album by World Service Project called Serve, out in April.
What You'll Learn:
- Idiosyncratic parts of jazz, hip hop, and funk music
- Ghost notes
- Dynamics
- Mobility around the kit
- Technique for both hands and feet
Most importantly, you'll learn those little bits of information that make you sound authentic within these genres!
Metal with Rich Hawking
Hi everyone, I'm Rich Hawking. I'm going to be taking you through the metal songs of this Rock School syllabus.
I'm mainly known for my playing in the metal world with the band Hacktivist. I'll draw upon my experiences from:
- Playing tours
- Performing at festivals
- Playing big arenas
I'll share my tips to help you digest these parts and get you playing authentic-sounding metal.
Classic Rock with Youssef
Hello everybody, my name's Youssef. I'm a pro drummer living in London, and today we have some nice rock tunes I'm going to show you.
This is music that I grew up listening to, classic rock songs heavily influenced by bands like Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin. Drummers like Mitch Mitchell, John Bonham, and Bill Bruford inspire my teaching.
What We'll Cover:
- Applying rudiments to the kit
- Orchestrating rudiments in different ways
- Developing solos
- Odd time signatures
- Practicing with and without a metronome
- Counting out loud and internalizing different rhythms
- Techniques to develop speed for double stroke rolls and single stroke rolls
Most importantly, we'll focus on serving the music, maintaining the groove, and not speeding up.
So, come join us today! We've got loads of information for you, it's really fun, and there's a lot to learn and practice. Let's develop together!
