Introduction to the Pre-Chorus
So, guys, in this version of the song, you'll notice there's a whole new section here called the pre-chorus that we didn't actually end up using in the song. I'm going to play a little bit of that now for you.
New Melody and Lyrics
- Completely new melody
- New lyrics for this section as well
The main reason we didn't end up using this is:
- The pacing of the melody was pretty similar to the verse melody
- It wasn't that interesting to listen to, it just felt like an extension of the section
- The melody is quite jumpy, not that sing-along friendly
- Overall, it wasn't too catchy
Other Parts That Didn't Make the Final Cut
There are a few other parts that never made the final cut:
- Bass Guitar Part: Sonically, it didn't quite fit the core of the record.
- String Parts: While they are very pretty, they took the song down a much more organic route, which I thought didn't really suit the song in the end.
But as you can see, it's a pretty fully thought out idea. There are:
- Drums
- Bass
- All the pads
- Guitar parts
So it's really... I've sort of seen it through and thought it all out.
The Clapping Idea
The main thing that came out of this, though, was actually the development of this clapping idea up here that we've talked about earlier.
Seeing this idea through enabled me to start finding the first of these parts that would really glue the record together and help it become a cohesive product in the end.
