Music Lesson Assignment

Objective:
Get really familiar with the tune so that you don't have to keep looking at the melody as you're going along.

Instructions

1. Familiarize Yourself with the Tune:

   • Spend time listening to and practicing the tune.
   • Aim to memorize the melody.

2. Utilize Riffs and Scales:

   • See how freely you can use the riffs that we've looked at.
   • Drop in and out of the melody using the major scale.

3. Play Without the Melody:

   • Eventually, you should be able to play without the melody.
   • Use just the riffs and the scale while still knowing where the melody would be at any point.

4. Testing Your Knowledge:

   • Start at the beginning with your improvisation.
   • Bring in the melody at some point to test your knowledge.
   • Ensure you know exactly when you've reached the end of the 32 bars.
   • Be aware of when you might want to start with the melody again.

Conclusion

This is something you'll have to do with every tune that you play, so it's worth spending a lot of time on.
