Music Lesson: Cumberland Gap

Now we're going to try a song that has a forward roll in it. It's called Cumberland Gap.

Forward Roll Pattern

The roll we'll use is:
thumb 1, 2, thumb 1, thumb 1, 2, thumb 1, 2, thumb 1.

Adding Techniques

• We're going to add a hammer to that.
  • It starts with the thumb and ends with the index.
• The song also has:
  • A slide
  • A forward roll
  • A reverse roll

Playing the Song

• I'm going to play the whole song now.
• Now, I'll play it a little bit slower.

Note: Notice it does the lick on the first measure as it does on the last measure.
