Finding Your Own Voice In The Blues

The hardest thing on the guitar isn't learning the tools, it's making them sound like you. This course is about exactly that: taking the techniques you already half-know and shaping them into your own voice in the blues.

Marcus Bonfanti is a working blues guitarist and singer, frontman of Ten Years After and the Ronnie Scott's Blues Explosion, who has shared stages with Van Morrison, David Gilmour and Ronnie Wood. He starts with rhythm guitar, because as he puts it that's most of the gig and if your comping isn't happening the whole band knows about it, then moves into soloing and self-expression.

You'll work on right-hand technique and hybrid picking, left- and right-hand muting, using chords and substitutions inside the blues, building basslines into your playing, and a full arrangement of Mississippi John Hurt's "Sliding Delta". The aim throughout is playing that is competent, independent and sounds like nobody but you.
