How to slow down a section of sheet music

Every MusicGurus lesson that includes notation uses the Soundslice interactive player, which can change playback tempo without affecting pitch. It’s the single most useful practice tool in the player — here’s how to use it.

Can I slow down playback in MusicGurus?

Yes. In any lesson with sheet music, switch to the score view and look for the tempo control in the Soundslice toolbar above the notation. Reduce the percentage to play the passage slower; the audio keeps its original pitch, so it still sounds in tune.

How do I change the tempo?

1. Open a lesson that includes sheet music and switch to the score view.
2. Click the tempo control in the toolbar (it shows the current speed).
3. Reduce the speed and press play — the notes highlight in time so you can follow along at the new tempo.
4. Nudge the speed back up as the passage gets cleaner.

Does slowing down work with looping?

Yes — tempo and looping work together, which is ideal for drilling a hard bar: loop it at a slow tempo until it’s clean, then raise the speed step by step.
