Music Lesson
Another way to do it is, before each new stage, sustain whole bows evenly without the heavy lights, as in exercise.
- Feel the flow, evenness, and momentum of the bow.
- Then keep the same feeling of flow as you continue without stopping, straight into the divisions.
- Heavy. Very good.
- It's just down here that you need to feel the string. Just down there. Very good. Very good.
Now do six at about this tempo. That's good.
- Don't nod with each stroke.
- 40. 40. 40.
- Be careful with bow division. Okay?
Let me show you something.
- If you do, you're doing six in a bow at the moment.
- Watch this.
- Remember the tempo: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
- 1, 3, 4, 5, six.
- 1, 4, 5.
Then you do it like that, sustaining between the heavy lights.
- Feel the flow, feel the momentum.
- Now the same feeling. That's great. And again.
- Repeat it.
Feel the flow.
- Five, six, one.
- Now same feeling.
- Make it even.
- Heavy and light.
- And heavy and light. Very good.
Now do two in one bow.
- Light, heavy, light.

Just try once, not pulsing it, but just playing one long stroke.
- Imagine the pulsing.
- Feel the flow and momentum there.
- It's better.

- Keep the momentum.
Do just one long bow.
- And back.
- Now do three pulses.
- Heavy, heavy.
- Little faster would be easier.
- That's very good, though. Very good.

About the instructor
Simon Fischer mène une carrière remarquable et variée de concertiste, de pédagogue et d'artiste de studio. Il s'est produit dans le monde entier en récital et a enregistré trois Sonates de Brahms, un enregistrement salué par la revue Gramophone. Simon est reconnu comme l'un des professeurs d'élite au monde. Il est professeur à la Guildhall School of Music et a occupé des postes à la Yehudi Menuhin School, la Wells Cathedral School et la Purcell School, et a été pendant 15 ans professeur invité à la Royal Scottish Academy of Music. Après avoir étudié à Londres avec Yfrah Neaman et à New York avec Dorothy DeLay, l'approche de Fischer réunit les meilleurs éléments des traditions violonistiques française, russe et américaine. Les publications de Fischer exercent une grande influence sur l'enseignement du violon. Rédacteur pour la revue The Strad depuis 1991, ses articles mensuels ont conquis un lectorat dans le monde entier. Publiés par Edition Peters, ses ouvrages techniques Basics and Practice (traduit en coréen, italien et allemand), Scales et The Violin Lesson, ainsi que le DVD The Secrets of Tone Production (désormais disponible en streaming via MusicGurus), sont devenus des références sur de nombreux continents.
