Welcome to Wokschool!
Hey, how's it going? I'm James, and you've made a great choice joining us. This online web content is based on the Rock School syllabus and books. There's loads of extra information written in all the books, particularly about:
- Scales
- Arpeggios
- Sheet music
All this good stuff!
Course Structure
If you're looking to do the exams, then the book is required, so I'd recommend buying them if you're planning on taking the exams. This course is divided into several sections:
- Performance of the pieces
- Walkthrough and analysis by each piece for every musician
- Technical exercises, which include scales, arpeggios, chord voicings, etc.
- Sight reading: A short excerpt about the best ways to approach and improve this skill.
- Improvisation and creativity: Extra content on how to improvise and play without relying solely on reading music.
Even though this isn't strictly within Rock School, we're going to teach you how to approach improvisation using your ears!
Additional Resources
Online, there's a huge amount of extra content:
- Downloads
- Extensive web content
- Hundreds of videos
It's going to take you a while to get through it all, so I really hope you enjoy the experience!

We also have an interactive player, which allows you to:
- Slow down or speed up different passages
- Really see and hear how a certain part or section sounds
If you're struggling with any part, you can slow it down, break it down, and play along with it.
