Welcome to the Piano Syllabus with Paddy Milner
Hi there! I'm Paddy Milner, and I'm very happy to be here with Rock School teaching the piano syllabus.
My Musical Journey
I've been very fortunate to travel the world through music, playing with some great artists, including:
- Tom Jones
- Van Morrison
- David Gilmour
- A variety of other talented musicians, both known and unknown.
It's truly been a joy to work with them!
Course Focus
In this course, I will primarily be focusing on:
- Soul
- Gospel
- Blues (my specialty)
- Rock and Pop tunes
I've been given some fantastic songs to work with. For each tune, I'll break it down into key components, including:
Arrangements and Styles
- Understanding how to play the arrangements stylistically.
- Exploring what defines these styles, with a particular focus on:
- Feel
- Groove
- Time (very important aspects)
Technical Elements
We will also delve into some technical aspects within those pieces.
Conclusion
There's absolutely tons of stuff to learn! I've really enjoyed rediscovering these great songs, and I hope you enjoy playing them as much as I do and learn a lot along the way.
