Welcome to the Music Lesson
Hey there, everybody!
How are you today? Great to see you. My name is Andrew James Johnson. I'm a composer and pianist from the UK, and we're sitting in a fantastic studio here in the heart of London. I've got a beautiful Steinway piano and I'm going to be recording some great tracks for you, helping you understand how to play your pieces better.
A Bit About Me
- Professional Pianist: I have been a professional pianist for about 25 years.
- Experience:
- I've played all over the world,
- Collaborated with orchestras,
- Worked with bands,
- Served as a music director for major companies like Disney and on big cruise ships.
Currently, I'm focusing on composing and working on my own album. I've released a few albums over the years, and I'm truly enjoying my life as a musician, using these fingers to make music!
Your Piano Journey
It's really great that you have chosen to learn the piano. That's absolutely fantastic news!
Whether you're a beginner or an advanced grade 8 student tackling some of the real hardcore stuff, you are in the right place.
My Musical Repertoire
I've played everything from:
- Concertos and Sonatas by classical composers like Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff.
- To contemporary artists like Bruce Hornsby with "The Way It Is," David Bowie with "Life on Mars," and Coldplay and Elton John.
I look forward to getting deep into the music, possibly covering details you might not have encountered in your regular lessons.
Whether you're learning purely from a visual point of view or have had some lessons before, I aim to help you get the most out of your learning experience.
What You'll Learn
As your instructor, I'm here to help you understand the finer points of making music, not just the technical aspects like scales and arpeggios, but also:
- Musical Expression: How to express yourself through your playing.
- Professionalism: How to incorporate a sense of professionalism into your music.
Remember, it's not just about the black dots on the page; music is a living art form. As you learn and improve, you'll start to realize this too. I will help you discover how to bring your music to life.
The real difference between a pro player and an amateur is the ability to communicate the message of the music to whoever is listening, or even just to yourself.
Let's Get Started!
I can't wait to dive into the courses and pieces we'll be working on together. It's going to be a lot of fun, and I really look forward to seeing you there.
Cheers!
